  My latest 7” vinyl release “Family & Loyalty" is a tribute to Gang Starr (not only are they “one of the best yet” but they’re also one of my favorite duos of all time!). Inspired by Guru flowing "Diamonds are forever like family and loyalty or real rap songs like C.R.E.A.M. or My Melody" I decided to stay loyal to the subject matter and pair Gurus’ rhymes with a sample flip relevant to the hook on each side of the record. Side A of the 45 features a flip of “As Long As I Got You” by The Charmels, originally sampled by RZA on “C.R.E.A.M.”. On the B side, I utilize my vintage Casio CZ-101 keyboard to recreate the Marley Marl produced, “My Melody” by Eric B. & Rakim.

  The "Family & Loyalty" 45 is a tribute to one of my favorite Hip Hop groups of all time, Gang Starr. Inspired by Guru flowing "diamonds are forever like family and loyalty or real hip hop songs like C.R.E.A.M. or My Melody" I decided to pair each side with a custom instrumental inspired by the line. Side A of the 7" features a flip of The Charmels - As Long As I Got You, originally sampled by RZA on C.R.E.A.M.. On the B side, I get busy on my vintage Casio CZ-101 keyboard (along with other studio tools) and recreate the Marley Marl produced My Melody by Eric B. & Rakim.
